DXP2800 quit connecting

I bought the DXP2800 last September. A couple of times since it turned itself off for no apparent reason. I have it on a ups with my internet router so I don’t think it was power related. Today I was downloading files remotely using the desktop app from my office when I lost connectivity. I checked the phone app and experienced the same disconnection. When I got home i could not connect even on the same network. I unplugged the unit and waited a couple of minutes before plugging it back in. When it came back on I noticed that the three white lights would rotate one two three, one two three, etc. I didn’t notice if it was doing it before I unplugged it. I have also tried the reset button on the back. The manual said it would beep after 5 seconds. I have held it up to 15 seconds and it will not beep. I’m not real tech savey so I looking for suggestions.

Try contacting Ugreen’s support? They tend to answer fairly fast.

What is your definition of “Fast”? I contact them on the 11th. It took 24 hrs for a reply and suggestions on what to do. After each reply, (each one taking 12 to 24 hours), I returned an email with the results of their suggestions within an hour of their reply, except when it came at 3 in the morning. Each reply had only one suggestion, it would have been taken much less time if they had a list steps to troubleshoot. I just got the unit booting up and working yesterday, the 19th. the final solution was to re flash the OS. A summery of the step they suggested is below. Maybe this will help someone.

Thank you for contacting us, and I’m sorry to hear about the issue with your DXP2800.

Based on the description you provided, the behavior you see — especially the three white LEDs lighting one-two-three in a repeating cycle — indicates that the NAS is unable to start the operating system properly.
We would like to guide you through a few simple checks:

1. PLEASE POWER OFF THE NAS COMPLETELY

a. Unplug the power cable

b. Wait for 2 minutes

c. Plug the power cable back in and turn the NAS on.

d. After powering on, please check:
– Do the three white LEDs continue to rotate 1-2-3 repeatedly?
If yes, this means the system still cannot start.

2. TRY STARTING THE NAS WITHOUT THE HARD DRIVES – This helps us identify whether the issue comes from the system itself or the storage drives.

a. Power off the NAS

b. Remove all hard drives

c. Turn the NAS back on (with no drives installed)

d. Please check whether:

   i. \* The LEDs still rotate in the same 1-2-3 pattern

ii. \* Or the device starts normally and you can access the login page

iii. This information will help us determine the root cause.

3. ABOUT THE RESET BUTTON

The reset button only works after the system has successfully started.
If the system cannot boot, it will not beep — this is expected.
If the problem persists, please feel free to contact us again!

Based on your feedback, the NAS is still unable to complete the operating system startup, even when powered on without any drives installed. The front panel LEDs continuing to rotate in a 1-2-3 pattern further indicate that the system is not initializing successfully.
To help us determine exactly where the startup process is stopping, we kindly ask you to perform the following next step:

1. Please connect the NAS to an external monitor via HDMI.

2. Power off the NAS completely.

3. Connect a monitor or TV to the NAS using an HDMI cable.

4. Power on the NAS.

5. Record a continuous video of the entire boot-up process, starting from when the power button is pressed until the screen stops progressing or remains on the same output.

6. Once you have the video, please upload it and let us know so we can continue the investigation.

They were not clear on where to upload the video. I ended up putting on my OneDrive and sending a link to the video.

Please follow the steps below.

  1. **Power off the NAS completely**.

2. Power on the NAS and immediately start pressing the BIOS access key (usually F2, Del, or Esc, depending on the manufacturer).

3. Once in the BIOS menu, navigate to the “Advanced” or “Chipset” tab (the exact name may vary depending on the NAS model).

4. Look for an option called “Watchdog Timer” or “Watchdog” under the settings.

5. Disable the Watchdog Timer (set it to “Disabled” or “Off”).

6. Save the changes and exit the BIOS (usually by pressing F10 or selecting “Save and Exit”).

7. Reboot the NAS and see if it can start properly without the repeating LED pattern.

Disabling the watchdog timer should stop the system from being stuck in a reboot loop. Let me know if you need further assistance!

I tried several times to enter BIOS without success. I used F2, Del, and Esc. After clarifying the directions, I decided to try CTRL+F12. This worked and I was able to disable “watchdog”. Still no change in boot up. Save was also not “F10” it was “F4”

Thank you for the information you provided!
Could you please provide a video of the startup process so that our technical engineers can confirm the problem?
Looking forward to your reply.

Thank you for providing the video.
There might be a problem with the system. May I ask if you would be willing to have the device reflashed? To troubleshoot this issue, we suggest trying a system reflash.

Replied “Yes”

Thank you for your reply.
Could you please provide your device’s serial number (SN) and the country where you are using the device? I will then provide you with the ISO download link.

Replied with the S/N and country of use

Thank you for your reply.
The installation image download link for UGOS PRO has been generated for you. Please note: This image can only be used for the device with SN and can only be downloaded once. If the download is interrupted unexpectedly, please contact us again to request a new download link.

Please refer to the instructions in the attached PDF file for the flashing installation steps.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.

After downloading the link and creating a boot flash drive I rebooted the unit and it completed the process.
