Raid Migration from RAID 1 to RAID5

Hi,
I am planning for DXP6800, but I am a bit confused about how storage expansion works.
I understand that I can start with say 3 disks in RAID5 and later add more. But my question is can I make a RAID 1 today with 2 disks, and later migrate to RAID 5 without deleting everything and starting again?

Is there any official document or guide that explains which RAID migrations are supported and how the process works?
I would like to start small and expand later, but I want to make sure I choose the right RAID setup from the beginning.

Key Requirements & Things to Know:

  1. Drive Capacity: The new drive(s) added must be equal to or larger in size than the smallest drive in your current RAID 1 array.

  2. Data Availability: Your files remain accessible during the conversion, though disk read/write speeds will be slightly slower while parity is being calculated.

  3. Migration Time: Converting an array takes anywhere from several hours to a few days depending on drive size and total storage volume.

  4. Volume Expansion: After the RAID conversion completes, you simply expand the volume in Storage Manager to claim the newly available capacity.

  1. Insert the new 3rd hard drive into an empty bay of your UGREEN NAS.

  2. Open Storage Manager in UGOS Pro.

  3. Select your existing Storage Pool (RAID 1).

  4. Click Manage (or the three-dot menu ...) and select Change RAID Type.

  5. Choose RAID 5, select the newly inserted drive, and confirm the process.

  6. Once the rebuild completes, go to Volume and click Expand to allocate the new storage space.
