I’m using the Sync & Backup program on my DH2300, to run nightly and upload to my NextCloud provider. I would really like to be able to restore the backups directly to my desktop computer, because - what if.
Anybody got a hint to how this is possible ?

What about nextcloud desktop client!!!
It is not a big problem getting hold of the backup data. But it looks like it is using some kind of diff to keep the backup from growing to much, like Git - which makes it difficult to extract meaningful data from the backup archive.
My hope was somewhat that ugreen had forked an existing backup tool, which therefore might be compatible with the archive.
