i am a newbie on this subject and would like to understand best for my setup
i have a laptop dock station for both PC and Mac laptop.
I would like to set up the Ugreen connected directly to my dock, and both laptops can able to access and transfer files (one laptop connection at a time). As the highest speed as possible and i do not care about online / cloud / network connection to my internet. Basically it will be as high speed storage backup. I hope can be able to edit photo file,direction on ugreen
You’re aware you bought a NAS and not a DAS, right?
You don’t even mention which model you have, but to get the best speed, you need to get a network switch that supports the same speed or faster, as the fastest port on your NAS and then get matching network adapters for your computers.
Imho, you should’ve gotten a DAS with a USB port instead, as it would’ve been cheaper and no need to worry about any of the features you paid for but apparently don’t want/need.
The only models that have a direct thunderbolt connectivity are DXP6800 and DXP8800 , If you bought any other model you wont be able to connect them directly. ( Thunderbolt machines will also work on your USB c port, at a lower speed though)
