Hi, I want to buy DXP2800. Before that, I want to ask if I can add ethernet using USB dongle? I have Ugreen ethernet dongle already.
Hi, yes Ugreen support says that you can use a Wi-Fi dongle. I am assuming by Ethernet you meant wifi ( because it already has ethernet port). For first time connection you would have to connect it to the PC with a lan wire, but after that I think there would be a place in UGOS that would let you connect to a wifi.
I have a WiFi dongle, plugged it in to my DXP2800 and it just worked! Control Panel –> Network –> Network Connection you’ll see a new WLAN object, press “edit” and choose what WiFi network to connect to.
Thank you for posting. This will be hopeful for others ![]()
Yes, some USB to Ethernet dongles work with UGOS Pro. I have a 2.5 Gbps generic thing with a Realtek chip that works just fine. Don’t expect to get the same performance as from the native port though and sadly it seems like SMB multichannel doesn’t work on UGOS Pro.
Yes, I am using ethernet usb dongle too. Works very well.
The only hiccup is if you are going to use the usb-NIC in the network bridge you may need to do some extra configuration steps to make sure NIC stays in the bridge. In my case, usb device did disconnect and immediately reconnect itself “physically” periodically. UGOS would not re-add it to the bridge after reconnection.
To fix this I have followed chatGPT advice and implemented udev-triggered re-attach. So far the fix survives reboots, but I have yet to see if it would survive a firmware update.
